Mr. McCORMICK. Madam President, I rise today to honor VisionCorps of Lancaster, PA, as it celebrates its 100th anniversary of service to individuals who are blind or vision impaired.
committed to helping veterans blinded during the First World War, and others who were blind, learn a trade. What began as a small workshop teaching skills such as basket weaving and chair caning has grown, over a century, into a comprehensive rehabilitation and support services organization serving thousands of Pennsylvanians.
travel training, assistive technology instruction, employment services, and independent living support to help individuals who are blind or vision impaired overcome barriers and live fuller, more independent lives. Serving communities across southeastern and south-central Pennsylvania, the organization has also built meaningful employment pathways for people who are blind, including through its long-standing partnership with the National Industries for the Blind.
For a century, VisionCorps has stayed true to its founding purpose: empowering individuals who are blind or vision impaired to attain independence. On behalf of the people of Pennsylvania, I congratulate VisionCorps on its 100th anniversary and thank its staff, volunteers, and supporters for a century of changing lives.
