The PRESIDING OFFICER. This morning, I am happy to introduce Dr. J. Blair Blackburn, president of East Texas Baptist University, from Marshall, TX, and he will lead us in prayer this morning.
The guest Chaplain offered the following prayer:
Join me in prayer.
perfecter of our faith, To You, O Lord, not to us—to You—be the glory and honor.
gratitude. We recognize that You are sovereign over every nation, every authority, and every generation. God, in a world that is turning their face from You, may the United States of America be a people who seeks Your face.
We lift before You these esteemed Members of the U.S. Senate and entrust their service to our Nation unto Your providence. Grant them discerning hearts and eyes attentive to Your work in America and around the world. In the weight and the complexity of their responsibilities, Father, remind our Senators that true leadership ultimately is an act of stewardship. Shape the passion of their hearts and establish the work of their hands to serve others with humility, with integrity, and, Father, with love.
President Vance, the Cabinet, and our Supreme Court Justices to be instruments of Your peace. As it has been stated, where there is division, cultivate reconciliation; where there is disagreement, kindle charity; where there is uncertainty, grant wisdom; and where there is despair, Father, awaken hope. But where there is darkness, let Your light prevail. Help these leaders of our Nation seek to understand others and, Father, to serve rather than to be served and to lead with grace and mercy.
strengthen them, Father, when they are weary, counsel them, Lord, when they are uncertain, and guide them toward whatever is true and noble, whatever is right and pure, Father, whatever is lovely and admirable.
hope is not found in political power, human institutions, or earthly kingdoms, but in You, God, whose kingdom will never end.
- and Lord of Lords, my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
