in the house of representatives
Mr. JOHNSON of South Dakota. Mr. Speaker, I rise to recognize and thank Jonathon Sundet of Brookings, South Dakota, for his years of service to the people of South Dakota. Jonathon has served many roles in my office starting as an intern, joining the team full time as Staff Assistant, and was later promoted to Legislative Correspondent. He now serves as a Legislative Assistant on my policy team.
recognizing the public's accomplishments a real strength. His work on constituent correspondence grew each year. In 2024 he drafted six policy letters. In 2025 he drafted 50 congratulatory letters, 55 legislative correspondence letters, and seven additional legislative items. Those numbers have only grown in 2026.
outstanding South Dakotans, the most my office has ever submitted in a single year. Jonathon also improved the office's core services. He formalized and digitized our flag request tracking, and to promote the Congressional App Challenge, he reached out to 353 high school and middle school staff members.
He consistently goes above and beyond for South Dakotans. In one case, he arranged for a flag to be flown over the Capitol and shipped to Rapid City on the same day it was requested, when the process usually takes about a month. His work directly resulted in my office receiving the Democracy Award for Best Constituent Experience in D.C. from the Congressional Management Foundation.
