Legislation Details
- Amends the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to establish online and delivery standards for food stores and concerns participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
- Requires the Administrator of the Food and Nutrition Service, in consultation with various agencies and stakeholders, to establish standards within 18 months for:
- Safe and secure online and mobile platform use by SNAP participants, including digital privacy and cybersecurity.
- Delivery services by authorized stores or concerns, focusing on fair and safe working conditions, including prevailing wages, and ensuring food safety and security during delivery.
- Mandates a report requirement for retail food stores or wholesale food concerns seeking SNAP authorization, detailing compliance with the established standards, to be submitted within 18 months after the standards are set.
- Specifies that noncompliance with these standards will result in the loss of authorization to participate in SNAP, with the possibility of reapplication upon demonstrating compliance.
