Amends the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to include fertility treatment and care as an essential health benefit.
Expands the definition of essential health benefits to include fertility treatment and care.
Defines “fertility treatment and care” to encompass a range of services, including:
Preservation of human oocytes, sperm, or embryos.
Various forms of artificial insemination.
Assisted reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization.
Genetic testing of embryos.
Fertility-related medications.
Gamete donation.
Additional services as determined appropriate by the Secretary.
The amendments will take effect for plan years starting one year after the enactment of the legislation.
