Legislation Details

Directs the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study on 1-800-MEDICARE.
Requires the study to be completed and a report submitted to Congress within one year of enactment.
The report must include:
- Analysis of customer wait times and overall satisfaction.
- Analysis of staffing competency and staffing levels.
- Analysis of contractor performance.
- Description of improvements or downgrades in service areas from previous reports.
- Recommendations for Congress or the Secretary of Health and Human Services to improve 1-800-MEDICARE.
- Description of actions taken by the Secretary of Health and Human Services or contractors in response to prior recommendations.
