Legislation Details

Amends title XIX of the Social Security Act to require states to verify eligibility criteria for individuals enrolled in Medicaid quarterly.
Introduces the “Leveraging Integrity and Verification of Eligibility for Beneficiaries Act” or the “LIVE Beneficiaries Act.”
States must comply with quarterly eligibility verification requirements starting January 1, 2025.
States are required to review the Death Master File quarterly to determine if any Medicaid enrollees have died.
If an enrollee is found to be deceased, states must disenroll the individual from Medicaid and stop any payments for medical assistance, except for payments for services provided before the individual’s death.
