Legislation Details

  • Amends the Public Health Service Act to include rural emergency hospitals in the 340B drug discount program as covered entities.
  • Specifies that to qualify, a rural emergency hospital must:
    • Be owned or operated by a state or local government,
    • Be a public or private non-profit corporation formally granted governmental powers by a state or local government, or
    • Be a private non-profit rural emergency hospital with a contract to provide health care services to low-income individuals not covered by Medicare or eligible for state assistance.
