Amends title XVIII of the Social Security Act to allow for a waiver of certain criteria for the designation of a critical access hospital.
Introduces the “Rural Healthcare Revitalization Act of 2024.”
Allows states to waive the requirement that a facility must be more than 35 miles (or 15 miles in areas with mountainous terrain or only secondary roads) from any other hospital or critical access hospital for designation as a critical access hospital, under specific conditions.
Specifies that the waiver applies in metropolitan statistical areas where a CMS-accredited facility with 300 beds or fewer has terminated operations.
Requires the subsequent facility seeking designation as a critical access hospital under the waiver to:
Provide not more than 10 beds.
Meet existing requirements for critical access hospitals regarding services provided, length of stay, and annual review by the State.
Comply with requirements applicable to entities participating in the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
