Amends title 10 of the United States Code to authorize claims for personal injury or death due to medical malpractice on certain naval vessels.
Specifies that claims can be made for incidents occurring on covered naval vessels not engaged in combat operations.
Defines “covered naval vessel” to include aircraft carriers, landing helicopter assault ships, and landing helicopter dock ships.
Establishes that the amendments apply to claims accruing during a specified period or on or after the enactment date.
Allows claims related to medical malpractice that occurred between October 1, 2016, and the enactment date to be filed within 90 days of the enactment.
Claims filed within this timeframe will be considered timely and may be allowed, settled, and paid under existing provisions.
