Legislation Details

Amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
Deems certain color additives as adulterated in food.
Specifies that a covered color additive is considered unsafe for use in food.
Defines “covered color additive” to include:
- Red No. 40
- Yellow No. 5
- Yellow No. 6
- Any additive substantially similar to the specified additives.
Establishes that food containing these color additives is adulterated under the law.
