Legislation Details

Authorizes the Secretary of State to designate additional persons eligible to serve as passport acceptance agents.
Specifies eligible persons for designation, including employees of federal and state courts, postal employees at selected post offices, Department of Defense employees at authorized military installations, employees of selected federal departments or agencies, notaries or persons authorized to perform notarizations, and any other person specifically designated by the Secretary.
Requires the Secretary of State to prescribe or revise regulations as necessary for the implementation of this Act.
Directs the Secretary of State to facilitate an increase in the number of companies certified to provide hand-carry courier services for passport applications and passports.
Aims to increase the daily maximum number of passport applications that certified companies can submit to the Department of State for processing.
Defines “hand-carry courier service” as the transport of passport applications for processing and the retrieval of newly issued passports for delivery to the holder.
Mandates that the expiration date of U.S. passports issued or renewed 180 days after the enactment of this Act be the same as the date of birth of the passport applicant or holder.
