Introduced on August 5, 2025 by Chris Pappas
This bill would shield small businesses from extra import fees that were added because of a national emergency declared on February 1, 2025. It says those emergency “duties” (special charges on imported goods) would not apply to items brought into the U.S. by small businesses or for their use, as defined in the Small Business Act.
In plain terms, if a small business imports supplies or products, it wouldn’t have to pay the added emergency tariffs tied to the President’s orders from February 2025. This aims to lower costs for small businesses that rely on imported goods.
