Introduced on March 26, 2025 by Thomas Massie
Referred to the House Committee on House Administration.
This bill would require people running for federal office to say if they are also a citizen of another country. They must include this information—naming the other country—on their statement of candidacy, the form that collects basic info and names their main campaign committee. The change takes effect as soon as the bill becomes law.
In practice, this means voters would have clear information if a candidate has dual citizenship when they file to run for office.
