This bill would block federal money to graduate medical schools unless they certify they do not force students, faculty, or staff to say or adopt certain diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) ideas. Schools could not run a DEI office, require DEI statements for admission or hiring, or sort students by race or ethnicity for classes, benefits, or opportunities. Schools would also have to follow existing civil rights laws, like Title VI and Title IX, as a condition of getting funds, including access to federally backed student loans .
Accrediting bodies for medical education could not require schools to adopt policies that conflict with these rules. The bill says it does not stop schools from teaching about medical needs tied to sex or race, collecting demographic data for information, allowing speech rights on campus, running research or student groups, inviting speakers, or following federal and state anti-discrimination laws .
