This bill allows the Pines Foundation to build and care for a Fire Island AIDS Memorial inside the Fire Island National Seashore. The memorial honors people from Fire Island Pines and Cherry Grove who suffered and died during the AIDS epidemic, and it aims to teach future generations about the epidemic’s impact on these communities. The design and location must be approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior, and no federal money can be used to design, build, or maintain it.
