Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill expands what clinical social workers can do for people on Medicare. Right now, Medicare mainly pays them for mental health care. Under this change, Medicare would cover any service that a clinical social worker is allowed to provide under their state’s rules, not just services for diagnosing or treating mental illnesses.
If it becomes law, the change would start for services provided on or after December 1, 2025.
