This bill would update veterans’ law so that if someone served at the Karshi Khanabad (K2) Air Base in Uzbekistan, the Department of Veterans Affairs would assume certain illnesses are related to that service. This “presumption” means the VA would treat these health problems as service-connected for those K2 veterans without requiring extra proof of cause.
It lists many illnesses, including any cancer; thyroid, bone, heart, skin, nerve, reproductive, lung, hormone, liver, or kidney diseases; blood disorders; primary immune regulatory disorders; medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illness; and cataracts.
