This bill aims to stop the commercial trade of kangaroos and products made from them in the United States. It would make it illegal to bring kangaroos into the country for sale, to sell them, or to sell, advertise, ship, or distribute items made wholly or partly from kangaroo parts. Breaking the law could lead to fines up to $10,000, up to one year in jail, or both, and each violation counts as a separate offense.
The Commerce Department would write rules to carry this out, working with other agencies. The law would start 180 days after it is signed, giving businesses time to adjust.
