Introduced on June 25, 2025 by Tammy Duckworth
Read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works.
This bill would make it illegal to bring kangaroos or products made from kangaroos into the U.S. for sale, or to sell, advertise, transport, or distribute them across state lines. It also bans making items for the U.S. market that use any part of a kangaroo. A “kangaroo product” means anything made in whole or in part from a kangaroo.
Breaking the law could lead to fines up to $10,000, up to 1 year in jail, or both. Each act is a separate crime, so multiple sales could mean multiple penalties. The Commerce Department must issue rules to carry this out. The law would start 180 days after it is enacted.
