Small Business Artificial Intelligence Advancement Act
The bill helps small businesses adopt AI more safely by providing SBA-delivered, regularly updated voluntary guidance and cybersecurity best practices, but it relies on taxpayer-funded implementation and nonbinding recommendations that may leave some firms—especially resource-constrained or specialized ones—without adequate support.
PERMIT Act
The bill trades substantial permitting relief, predictability, and state control—reducing time and cost for farmers, developers, utilities, and some water projects—for weaker federal oversight, reduced public review and legal remedies, and materially higher risks to water quality, ecosystems, and downstream public health.
Laken Riley Act
The bill strengthens state and federal enforcement tools—making it easier to detain certain noncitizens and for states to sue federal officials for faster judicial intervention—to enhance local perceptions of public safety, at the cost of expanded detention, increased taxpayer and litigation costs, constrained federal discretion, and risks to immigrants' due-process rights and national policy consistency.
To amend title 38, United States Code, to require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to transmit a veteran's history of opioid prescriptions to a Community Care health care provider.
The bill improves veteran care and claims coordination by sharing opioid prescription histories with community providers and TPAs, at the tradeoff of increased privacy risks, potential impacts on access to pain treatment, and added implementation costs.
Diesel Truck Liberation Act of 2026
The bill removes federal emissions requirements and clears prior penalties—giving vehicle owners and industry greater freedom and lower compliance costs—but at the likely expense of higher pollution, shifted costs to states and taxpayers, increased regulatory uncertainty, and weaker enforcement against tampering.
Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act of 2025
The bill strengthens courts' tools to deter and sanction frivolous litigation and to recover expenses, improving judicial efficiency, but increases the risk that resource-limited litigants, third parties, or meritorious claimants could face sanctions or reduced procedural protections.
Streamlining NEPA for Coal Act
The bill speeds and clarifies permitting pathways for coal—potentially helping energy companies and jobs—while increasing risks of local pollution, higher greenhouse gas emissions, and setbacks for renewable energy development.
Water Quality Technology Availability Act
The bill trades clearer, more practical EPA guidance focused on U.S.-available technologies for reduced visibility of emerging or foreign treatment innovations, which may slow adoption of better solutions and disproportionately hurt small or rural systems.
Clarifying Federal General Permits Act
The bill preserves permit coverage and reduces short-term compliance uncertainty by extending expiring general NPDES permits and enabling broader general permits, at the trade-off of potentially delaying stronger, locally tailored pollution controls that protect water quality.
Staged Accident Fraud Prevention Act of 2025
The bill centralizes criminal enforcement of staged-collision schemes to better protect drivers and deter fraud, but does so by expanding federal jurisdiction and exposing defendants to significantly harsher federal penalties.
