PILLAR Act
The bill meaningfully strengthens cybersecurity and inclusion for state and local systems but shifts ongoing costs, tightens procurement rules, and may complicate or slow implementation for local governments and communities.
Strengthening Cyber Resilience Against State-Sponsored Threats Act
The bill strengthens and centralizes federal efforts and provides targeted risk assessments to better defend U.S. critical infrastructure from PRC-linked cyber threats, but it does so with reduced transparency, potential limits on sharing classified information with operators, added costs, and a narrow focus on a single adversary.
To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to establish a national-interest standard for immigration, end certain family-sponsored immigration categories, revise standards relating to good moral character, eliminate the diversity immigrant category, revise public-charge and sponsor-support rules, revise naturalization requirements, reform employment-based immigration and H-1B visas, eliminate Optional Practical Training absent express statutory authorization, revise asylum procedures, require employment eligibility verification, establish additional penalties relating to unlawful presence and visa overstays, revise parole authority, and for other purposes.
Safeguarding Honest Speech Act of 2026
Good Friday Act of 2026
Halt Immigration from Countries with Inadequate Verification Capabilities Act
The bill strengthens national security and creates clearer administrative rules by restricting entry and tightening screening for nationals of certain countries, at the cost of broader travel restrictions, increased litigation and administrative burdens, economic and diplomatic side effects, and potential harms to migrants and family reunification.
Alien Banking Act
The bill standardizes attestation and reporting to help banks and authorities detect fraud and enforce immigration rules, but it heightens risks of excluding immigrants from banking, raises privacy and compliance burdens, and imposes severe penalties on individuals.
OLYMPICS Act
The bill extends U.S. taxation and reporting rules to certain cross-border athletic income, increasing federal revenue and clarity for taxpayers while imposing higher taxes on athletes and added compliance burdens for payers and intermediaries.
Restoring Washington's Birthday Act of 2026
The bill restores historical federal observances and adds a paid holiday for Lincoln's Birthday, benefiting federal workers and ceremonial consistency, at the cost of higher federal payroll/operational expenses and potential scheduling mismatches for states, employers, and workers.
