Introduced on January 3, 2025 by Andrew S. Biggs
Referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
This proposal would change the Constitution to say the Supreme Court must always have nine justices: one Chief Justice and eight Associate Justices. It locks the Court at nine, instead of letting the number change in the future .
If adopted, this would not change who is on the Court right now. It would set a clear limit for the size of the Court going forward, so people and leaders know the number will stay the same .
