Referred to the House Committee on Financial Services.
Introduced February 27, 2025 by Pablo José Hernández · Last progress February 27, 2025
Updates the legal definition of “extremely low‑income families” in federal housing law to apply the same rule to all U.S. territories, rather than singling out Puerto Rico, to reduce confusion in how income limits are set for eligibility.
Also directs the Comptroller General to report to Congress within 180 days on how low‑income families in Puerto Rico are connected to housing assistance and affordable units, how disaster recovery funds are used to rebuild and expand low‑income housing after hurricanes and earthquakes, and what improvements are needed in federal and local housing programs.
