Introduced on April 29, 2025 by Maria E. Cantwell
Read twice and referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs.
This bill moves about 72 acres of land in Washington from the U.S. Forest Service to the Department of the Interior, which must hold it in trust for the Quinault Indian Nation. Once in trust, the land becomes part of the Quinault Indian Reservation and is managed under the same rules as other tribal trust lands. Existing legal rights on the land are respected. Gaming is not allowed on this land. The bill does not change any treaty rights. Before taking the land into trust, Interior must disclose any hazardous substances on the land, but is not required to clean them up as part of this action .
