This bill would change who can serve in the U.S. military. It would ban people who have a current or past diagnosis of gender dysphoria, show symptoms of it, or have received gender-affirming care (like cross-sex hormones or surgeries) from serving in the Armed Forces. If someone in the military meets these conditions, the military would discharge them. Those discharged for this reason would not have to pay back education or other benefits, and they would not have to finish any remaining service time. The Defense Department would also review the security clearances of people discharged under this policy and could revoke eligibility if they do not undergo a new review or no longer need access to classified information.
