Recognizes and celebrates the 95th anniversary of the Detroit–Windsor Tunnel and commends the City of Detroit and the tunnel operator for maintaining the crossing. It highlights the tunnel’s long history (opened November 3, 1930), role as the first vehicular underwater international tunnel and the second‑busiest U.S.–Canada crossing, and its importance for cross‑border trade, travel, and pandemic response.
The resolution is symbolic: it praises stewardship, underscores the value of modern, resilient cross‑border infrastructure for regional economies and people, and affirms the friendship and economic partnership between the United States and Canada. It does not create new programs, funding, or regulatory requirements.
Referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and in addition to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
