Referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committee on Financial Services, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
This bill says that courts—not federal agencies—should be the ones to oversee and regulate lawyers and law firms when they are doing work tied to a lawsuit. It would also block the other side in a case from suing the opposing lawyers over how those lawyers handle the case in court-related work.
What this means in everyday terms: rules for lawyers in lawsuits would come from judges and the court system, and people couldn’t file separate lawsuits against the other side’s lawyers for their litigation actions.
