Rim of the Valley Corridor Preservation Act

This bill would expand the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area to include parts of the Rim of the Valley Corridor. The new boundaries are shown on official maps kept by the National Park Service, and the Interior Department can make minor boundary tweaks by publishing updates. Any land brought into the area would be managed under the same rules as the existing recreation area .

The bill does not stop utilities or water facilities from operating, maintaining, or modifying their systems within the added area. However, those activities must be done in ways that reasonably avoid or reduce harm to park resources .

• What changes: The recreation area’s boundary grows to include the Rim of the Valley unit as shown on federal maps; the Interior Department can make small boundary adjustments; utilities can continue work but should lessen impacts on natural and cultural resources .
