This bill would create a new public website, life.gov, to help pregnant people find support and services. It must go live within one year. The site would list federal, state, local, and private resources, such as mental health care, pregnancy counseling, medical and dental care, financial help, housing and baby supplies, child care, adoption and foster care, and more. It would also include information on alternatives to abortion, possible risks of abortion, and links about child development from conception. An online portal on the HHS website would ask a few questions and then provide tailored information based on your ZIP code, plus a place to give feedback on how helpful it was.
States would recommend local resources for the portal, following criteria set by HHS, and HHS could give grants to help states build or maintain these resource lists. The HHS Maternal Mental Health Hotline would share information about the website and add 24/7 live chat. The website and hotline must be available in other languages. HHS would report on site traffic, user feedback, and gaps in services, without sharing personal details. The website, portal, and hotline may not list groups that perform or promote abortions or financially support such groups. If users consent, HHS may follow up by phone or email to share more resources. These tools aim to connect families to help close to home, including mentorship, counseling, financial aid, and safety supports.
