This plan would make stores and online sellers show how much of a product’s price comes from tariffs. The extra amount would be labeled as a “tariff surcharge,” so shoppers can see it clearly at the time of purchase . It would start 30 days after it becomes law .
Small businesses would not have to do this. The Federal Trade Commission could set rules and enforce them, treating violations like unfair or deceptive practices .
