This bill sets a firm time limit on how long a veteran can stay in a VA vocational rehabilitation program. It caps the total program period at 96 months. Going beyond that would only be allowed in “extraordinary circumstances,” and the VA would have to explain the extension and the reasons for it in writing to Congress.
What this means: the VA’s job training and education support for veterans would generally stop at eight years total. Longer help could still happen, but only in rare cases and with added accountability to Congress.
