This bill would let government agencies use drones in wilderness areas for specific tasks. It changes current rules to allow Federal, State, local, and Tribal agencies to fly drones in designated wilderness, potential wilderness, and wilderness study areas to monitor the environment (like harmful algal blooms and invasive species), do law enforcement and search and rescue (including by U.S. Customs and Border Protection), and check on damage after natural disasters.
