The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) is a nonprofit organization that licenses public performance rights for songwriters and music publishers. It lobbies Congress on rules for performance-rights licensing, transparency about performance-rights information, and how copyright law applies to artificial intelligence and AI-generated music. ASCAP files disclosures and hires a lobbying firm to represent these issues.
