Met with a few members of our House delegation on HR 5439 (Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Pilot Act) which would create a 6 year Medicare pilot for individuals at high risk of hospital readmission if they don't have access to the proper nutrition; HR 2680 (Expanding Access to School Meals) which would eliminate the reduced price lunch category and codify Medicaid eligibility as a certification for free lunch; HR 1464 Modern WIC Act which would allow for the continued use of virtual participation options;

Discussing NCFPD, its mission and needs with CA delegation Members of Congress w/jurisdiction over NCFPDs service area and beyond. Working w/other key Members of Congress to explain federal nexus and benefit of federal funding assistance for NCFPDs Infrastructure and other equipment needs. Discussions and meetings with appropriators and federal department and agency officials re: potential funding opportunities available. DoD opportunities, appropriations possibilities. Mutual Aid Agreements. Service Area and coverage. Emergency response times and challenges.

R-CALF USA works on issues impacting U.S. cattle and sheep producers, including seeking trade policy reform, enforcing antitrust laws and Packers and Stockyards Act, supporting country of origin labeling for beef, opposing mandatory electronic identification of cattle, reforming the beef checkoff program, and protecting U.S. livestock herds from the introduction of foreign animal diseases, including the New World Screwworm. Addressing wolf predation.
