Precision Scheduled Railroading - TCU communicated with Congress, the Federal Railroad Administration, the Department of Transportation, and theSurface Transportation Board to register our ongoing concerns with safety and service issues tied to the Class 1 freight railroads' operating model "Precision Scheduled Railroading." This includes pressures applied to mechanical and intermodal craft employees, resignations, and resulting overall supply chain issues. Rail Safety - TCU routinely communicates with Congress and the Federal Railroad Administration with regards to rail safety issues as it pertains to our members, including regulations regarding brake and mechanical inspections, as well as operational concerns. Railway Safety Act of 2025 - TCU communicated with Senate offices in support of the legislation as it pertains to rail car inspections. H.R. 8996, Railroad Safety Enhancement Act of 2024 - TCU advocated for this bill to Member's of Congress and it's reintroduction in the 119th Congress. Truck Size and Weight - TCU communicated to Congress our continued opposition to any increases in the federal limits on truck sizes orweights.TCU opposes this for both safety and competitive reasons. Amtrak - TCU regularly meets with Amtrak leadership over grant requests and service planning. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) - TCU regularly communicates with the Offi ce of the Labor Member regarding funding issues for the agency,service levels (incl. wait times on claims and applications), and the ongoing efforts to upgrade the agency's IT infrastructure. Communicated with NTSB regarding investigations into ongoing safety cultural studies as well as an incident that resulted in the death of our member in Ohio. Digital Inspection Portals - TCU communicated with the FRA and Members of Congress regarding the use of digital inspection portals for inspections on Class I railroads and Amtrak UP/NS Merger - Educated Members of Congress and staff about concerns a potential merger may bring to our membership
