Clarifying Interstate Transportation of Firearms under the Gun Control Act
Description
This proposed rule would clarify for purposes of transporting firearms interstate, any activities that are necessary or incidental to the continuous transportation, including but not limited to a necessary overnight stay in temporary lodging, necessary stops for food, fuel, vehicle maintenance, an emergency, or medical treatment, and necessary transiting between modes of transportation, are considered “transport” and thus protected by the Gun Control Act provisions that address interstate transport of firearms. The proposed rule also provides requirements for securing firearms or ammunition during activities that are necessary or incidental to the continuous interstate transportation of firearms.
