Incorporation by Reference of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standard-603-2018

This rulemaking would update the NRC’s regulations at 10 CFR 50.55a(h) to incorporate by reference the 2018 version of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) standard 603, Criteria for Safety Systems for Nuclear Power Generating Stations,” replacing the 1991 version. Industry would gain regulatory confidence to use the latest version of IEEE-603 in the development of safety-systems for nuclear power generating stations and modifications related to the standard. The rulemaking would affect the existing operating reactor fleet (10 CFR Part 50) and applicants for new reactor designs ((10 CFR Part 50 or Part 52).
