Uniform Allowance

OPM is issuing a direct final rule to raise the maximum annual uniform allowance and the maximum allowable cost payable by the agency for furnishing uniforms from $800 to $1,500, amend the purpose of the subpart and the definition of “uniform,” and ensure agencies maintain policies for administering uniform allowance programs. This notice also provides guidance on appropriate and inappropriate uses of the allowance, distinguishes uniforms from personal protective equipment, and makes technical edits to improve transparency, accountability, and usability.
