Proposed Amendments to the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure

The Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Criminal Rules has proposed amendments to the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, and requested that the proposals be circulated to the bench, bar, and public for comment. The public comment period opens on August 15, 2025, and closes on February 16, 2026. Please see pages 68-99 of the preliminary draft of proposed amendments for the criminal materials. Any notices posted with the preliminary draft contain public hearing dates and contact information for more details. Hearings will be held virtually.
