Proposed Amendments to the Federal Rules of Evidence

The Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Evidence Rules has proposed amendments to the Federal Rules of Evidence, and requested that the proposals be circulated to the bench, bar, and public for comment. The public comment period opens on August 15, 2025, and closes on February 16, 2026. Please see pages 100-111 of the preliminary draft of proposed amendments for the evidence materials. Any notices posted with the preliminary draft contain public hearing dates and contact information for more details. Hearings will be held virtually.
