USCG-2024-0459
Special Local Regulation; Lower Hudson River 4th of July Fireworks and Drone
Description
The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary special local regulation on the navigable waters of the lower Hudson River in the vicinity of Manhattan, NY, and Hudson County, NJ, for vessel management during a fireworks display, drone display and drone display practice. This rule is necessary to provide for the safety of life on the navigable waters immediately before, during, and after the fireworks display, drone display and drone display practice on a highly congested waterway. This special local regulation allows the Coast Guard to enforce spectator vessel movement and prohibit all vessel traffic from entering the fireworks barge exclusion zones during the times when the fireworks and drone display could pose an imminent hazard to persons and vessels operating in the area.
