Safety Zone; Indiana Harbor Canal, East Chicago, IN

The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone for navigable waters in the vicinity of the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railroad Bridge on the Indiana Harbor Canal. The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards associated with the potential risk of bridge collapse due to a marine casualty. Entry of vessels or persons into this zone is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port, Sector Lake Michigan, or their designated representative.
