The Committee granted, by a record vote of 7-3, a rule providing for consideration of H.R. 1041, the “Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act”, H.R. 6047, the “Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act of 2026”, and H.R. 1329, the “Smithsonian American Women's History Museum Act”. The rule provides for consideration of H.R. 1041, the “Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act”, under a closed rule. The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the bill. The rule provides that the amendment in the nature of a substitute recommended by the Committee on Veterans' Affairs now printed in the bill shall be considered as adopted and the bill, as amended, shall be considered as read. The rule waives all points of order against provisions in the bill, as amended. The rule provides one hour of general debate equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs or their respective designees. The rule provides one motion to recommit. The rule further provides for consideration of H.R. 6047, the “Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act of 2026”, under a closed rule. Testimony was heard from public witnesses.
