Read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
This proposal lets the Department of Veterans Affairs treat certain car changes as medical care, so they can be covered for veterans who need them. It lists items like ramps and kneeling systems, lowered floors or raised doors/roofs, air conditioning, mobility lifts, easier entry/exit changes, wheelchair tie-downs, and adapted seating for drivers or passengers . A summary also notes many of these same features, such as ramps, lowered floors, lifts, and adapted seating, as medically necessary adaptations the VA may fund .
It also keeps in place an existing limit on pension payments for certain veterans in hospitals or other institutions, extending that rule through September 30, 2032 .
