Referred to the House Committee on Armed Services.
This bill helps people who can’t serve in the military for medical reasons find defense‑related civilian jobs and training. It tells the Defense Department to create, within one year, a clear path for medically disqualified entry‑level service members (like recruits or trainees) to move into civilian jobs they qualify for. It also says the Air Force’s DRIVE program already meets this goal and can be a model for other branches. The Navy must share information about careers at Military Sealift Command and shipbuilder training during the Transition Assistance Program for all Sailors.
The bill also sets up a program to inform and refer people who are not medically qualified for service to jobs, apprenticeships, and training in the defense industrial base, cybersecurity and intelligence support, defense tech research, and emergency and disaster preparedness. The Defense Department will work with industry, other federal agencies, and schools to do this. A progress report to Congress is due within one year after the bill becomes law.
