Introduced on July 23, 2025 by Mike Lee
Read twice and referred to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
This measure would block a recent action by the D.C. Council that approved a temporary change to the city’s open meetings rules. In plain terms, Congress is considering stopping D.C.’s “Open Meetings Clarification Temporary Amendment Act of 2025” from taking effect .
If this passes, the D.C. Council’s temporary change would not go forward. That could keep current open-meeting requirements in place instead of allowing the change the Council approved .
