This measure urges the U.S. Senate to give its formal approval for the United States to join the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. In plain terms, it’s a call for the U.S. to take part in a global agreement focused on protecting nature and the variety of plants and animals on Earth .
It does not itself change any laws. Instead, it asks the Senate to act. If the Senate agrees and the U.S. joins the agreement, future steps could follow to protect ecosystems and species across the country and worldwide .
