This bill would make it easier for schools in high‑poverty areas to serve free breakfast and lunch to every student. It lowers the share of “identified students” a school needs to qualify for universal meal service to 25%, so more schools can participate and more kids can eat at no cost.
The new threshold starts with school years that begin on or after July 1, 2025.
