Designates the Honor and Remember Flag as the national symbol to honor U.S. service members who died in the line of duty. It requires federal agencies to display the flag at specified federal locations on certain national days, directs agencies to issue regulations within 180 days, and directs GSA to begin buying and distributing the flags within 30 days of enactment.
Since the Revolutionary War, more than one million members of the United States Armed Forces have died in the line of duty.
The contributions of those fallen members of the Armed Forces are deserving of national recognition.
There is currently no officially recognized symbol that acknowledges members of the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty.
Adds a new section (36 U.S.C. 904) that designates the Honor and Remember Flag, created by Honor and Remember, Inc., as the symbol of the Nation’s commitment to honoring and remembering all members of the United States Armed Forces who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Requires the Honor and Remember Flag to be displayed at the locations specified in the statute on the required display days.
